Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful

committed citizens can change the world:

indeed, it's the only thing that ever has.

 -- Margaret Mead

The Customer

Your potential customers are endless! One activity that I like to do at the beginning of each unity party is to ask people how "they" are personally affected by diversity. You may hear things like: "my sister adopted a daughter from China", "my child was born with Down's Syndrome", "I married interracially", "I teach in a child care center, "my boss is from...", "my uncle is in a same-sex marriage", "my best friend practices a different religion than me", "my neighbor is in a wheelchair"...the list could go on and on. This exercise is one that draws us together as a group and emphasizes the fact that each one of us is affected by diversity in many different ways. Every person has the potential of being a customer or future Advocate!

The Guests

By listening to the responses of our guests, we can generate an even larger list of potential customers. Let's see, by reviewing the above responses we can gather that our immediate family can be a good source of diversity, as well as our friends, co-workers, extended family, our place of employment, our neighborhood, our child care facility, our church or community groups, and so on. This is where you will find people to invite to your parties, possible recruits and referrals for your business!

The Clients

By listening to the responses of our customers, we can also generate an even larger list of potential clients--and always be listening--they have great ideas here too! By reviewing the above responses we can gather that we can find clients at: adoption agencies, support groups, peace organizations, child care facilities, schools, businesses, churches, and the list goes so on and on. These are places that you can find people to sell to directly, and guess what? They are also a great place for possible recruits and referrals for your business too! DON’T MISS THIS!

You will want to build relationships with your local child-focused organizations. They all have Boards of Directors, committees, etc. Get involved! These people already KNOW the people in your community that you need to meet and they are VERY passionate about ALL CHILDREN! They are more than willing to give you leads because they also want to see change!
