Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful
committed citizens can change the world:
indeed, it's the only thing that ever has.
-- Margaret Mead
Dear Friends,
How exciting that you are
considering being part of a team that desires to change the
world! I am humbled, as I sit here with my baby
sleeping across my lap, as I try to find the words to express my sincere
desire to be part of a team that can truly leave a mark in history! “Big
dream”, you say? Big dreams come from big hearts that are full of big
faith! I take pride in the fact that I’m just a mother, who has a sincere,
God-given passion and desire to make the changes that I hope to see in
this world!
I'd like to share with
you how iCelebrateDiversity.com was birthed, my vision for how I would
like the company to grow, along with the lasting impact that I desire to
be made.
This site "officially" launched on August
17, 2001, but it was birthed in my spirit on November 5, 1991, the
day that I was blessed with my first child. Not only was I given a
larger heart, broader shoulders and an extra dose of patience, I was given a new
pair of eyes to see the world in a brand new light.
I have always been a compassionate
person and cared very deeply about other people. Yet, I'm not quite sure
if I ever really knew the depth of my compassion until I became a
mother...especially one in a multiracial family. That was the
moment compassion met reality in my life.
For the first time, I became very aware of
the products being sold in our toy stores, used by our childcare
facilities, and displayed in our churches, homes and elementary
schools. I noticed that there were so few products that included
children of different ethnic backgrounds and/or diverse abilities and
wondered what type of negative impact this was having on our children.
This concern is not new, it's just not been a priority.
Well, it is my priority. While many
families talk to their children about respecting and appreciating
differences, they are often (without intention) insensitive to the
products around them. Well, there began my quest to find products that
reflected diversity--iCelebrateDiversity.com is the fruit of that ten-year labor.
But, something is still missing. While
I am thrilled to be here for those of you who already "get it"
(understand the importance of celebrating diversity), I still
struggle to reach those who don't quite yet "get it". That's the
foundation of our Home Business Division. While we are still in our
infant stages, my spirit is jumping with joy at the potential of change
this division may inspire! We think parties in the home provide
the perfect atmosphere to gather in friendship, share food and
experiences from our
different cultures, share our products and discuss ideas on how to incorporate change into
our lives to most positively impact and enrich our lives and other's.
So, if this sounds like something you'd
like to be a part of, then please...sign
up today! The faster you do, the sooner you can start changing
lives...including your own!
