Customer response to Diversity Jellybeans

National Retail Chain

How did/will you use the jellybeans in your organization?  As part of our overall awareness initiative.  We give them individually, to teams and use them during brand conferences. We are finding that they are a quick hit to keep diversity front and forward.

How were the jellybeans initially received by your group?  Nothing but positive feedback!

What was the outcome and what were some of the reactions from the group?  Simply put, they get and love the concept of "you can't judge the beans by their color" and they love to bite into a bean and try to determine what flavor they are. It leaves a good taste in their mouth (literally) about the topic of diversity.

Why did you choose to use diversity jellybeans?  Simply, easy, fun way to keep the message going.

Would you use this tool again?  Absolutely!

International Law Firm

How did/will you use the jellybeans in your organization? We use the jelly beans in our firm receptions areas, recruitment/job fairs, gift bags for sponsored events, speaking engagements, and in our diversity orientation sessions. We use them primarily to demonstrate the prevalence of subconscious stereotypes.

What was the outcome and what were some of the reactions from the group? With very few exceptions, people get the meaning and the message and really like them. Students in particular like candy!

Would you use this tool again? Absolutely! We use them at least once a month!

National Corporation

How did/will you use the jellybeans in your organization? We utilized the jellybeans as a conversation piece and to break the ice for our initial meeting.

How were the jellybeans initially received by your group?  They loved them!

What was the outcome and what were some of the reactions from the group?  We incorporated the jellybeans as apart of our giveaways for meetings as well as a game.

Why did you choose to use diversity jellybeans? We loved the saying on the inside of the tin, loved the fact that you branded the tin with our company logo and loved the fact that all the jellybeans were truly diverse.

Would you use this tool again? Absolutely

The jellybeans were a hit! We used the jellybeans in several training sessions with junior, mid and senior level personnel and the attendees enjoyed the exercise.  We basically gave a disclaimer (regarding the jellybeans state and for attendees that may have medical, sugar and dye related conditions, prior to conducting our presentation).

We split the participants into teams. One team member wrote down the color of the jellybean, one member was blind folded and the others watched.  We instructed the teams the blindfolded member had to pick up the jellybean (which was placed in a Dixie cup) and hold it up for two seconds so the other team member could write down the color.  The only person who could talk on the team was the blindfolded member and they could only say what flavor they thought the jellybean was.  There were lots of puzzled looks and even some out bursts and laughs given by members who were supposed to be silent. Overall, it was a good training tool regarding diversity which was well received and enjoyed.
